Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted to development of curriculum for health care manager of elderly which reflects the need of Korean society.

Method: Two round Delphi method was applied to find consensus of health care manager of elderly curriculum. Important concepts in health care of elderly were delineated from literature review and discussions of gerontological nursing educator. Based on these results the health care manager of elderly curriculum was developed and course structure outlined by the researches as a group.

Result: As the result of delphi survey, curriculum consisted of 23 credits which 15 credits are based on lecture and 8 credits are based on field practice. The curriculum consisted of gerontological nursing in general. Theory of aging, Aging processes, Common Health Problem, Hospice care and Entrepreneureducation.

Conclusion: A curriculum for health care manager of elderly has been developed by a group of gerontological nursing educators. The curriculum should be further tested and developed with detailed theory and practicum course outline.
